Dr. Lorena Newson holds over 15 years of Higher Education leadership experience as an academic administrator and faculty member. Her professional and academic experience span from public to private two and four-year colleges and universities.
Dr. Newson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Loyola Marymount University, a Master’s degree from Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, and a Doctorate degree from the University of Southern California (USC).
She currently serves as the Dean of Guided Pathways and Professional Learning at Victor Valley College (VVC) and works diligently every day to create and cultivate thriving communities. Dr. Newson is connected to several initiatives focused on wealth generation and community building for underrepresented communities of color. Her primary area of focus is closing the wealth gap for historically marginalized and disenfranchised communities.
She is a newly licensed agent and joins the board after relocating from Los Angeles to Victorville. She is the owner of Black Business Enterprises, a local organization focused on providing financial literacy at at-risk populations.
She looks forward to expanding financial and educational opportunities to families of the high desert.
